Advanced Course for Combinatorial Optimization and Its Application in Transportation and Logistics

Combinatorial optimization is a very active research subject in the frontier of operationalresearch worldwide, which has great theoretical meanings and is applied quite widely in fields like transportation and logistics. In order to promote such research by Chinese scholars, especially to foster young and middle aged key research members, Beijing Institute for Scientific and Engineering Computing, College of Applied Sciences of Beijing University of Technology, and together with The Mathematical Programming Branch of Operational Research Society of China held jointly an Advanced Course for Combinatorial Optimization and Its Application in Transportation and Logistics.

Course Arrangement

From July 28th to 2nd August 2015, there will be a one-day-long seminar during the course.

Teaching language will be English.

Conditions and Method for Application

Intended applicant: young teachers with doctoral degree, doctoral candidates who have a good basis for Combinatorial Optimization and good English for communications.

Limit of people: 50 persons.

Procedure for application: normally applications from all institutes shall be submitted by graduate advisors who work in optimization research (direct application is allowed for young teachers). The advisors mentioned above shall consider objectively and recommend those youngsters with potentials in optimization research and relevant interest to participate. Receipt of application shall be returned to us before May 10th. The list of students shall be examined and approved by the Teaching Committee and Organization Committee and the second round of notice is planned to be released within the last ten days of May.

Accomodation, Fees and Discipline

Course and accommodation are free for formal students, while meals and travelling expenses are for students’ own charge.

All students and advisors promise to be responsible for the health and safety of the students, and all students shall treasure the chance of learning and attend classes and self-studies on time. Late for school, leave early or absenteeism are not allowed. No activities outside the campus will be arranged. Students shall not go outside the campus for leisure, sightseeing or shopping during study time.
