Beijing Institute for Scientific and Engineering Computing (BISEC) Opening Ceremony and Inaugural Workshop was succesfully held at the 3D Visualization Lab of BISEC on July 18,2016. The newly founded Institute will be devoted to solving key computational problems with practical relevance in science and engineering. It shall build bridges between applied mathematics and engineering by investigating mathematical theories in connection with computational methods and developing associated software. A strong emphasis will be put on contributing to education and training of scientific staff in this general field.
Guangsheng Guo, Shixin Li, Mingfei Zuo, Jihong Zhang, Fang Yuan and several official leaders, Gonghui Liu, Yijian Jiang, Zuoren Nie and Bin Wu, the leaders of BJUT attended the ceremony. Besides, Professor Jinchao Xu, Professor Rolf Moehring, Professor Qing Nie, the BD members of BISEC, Professor Dingzhu Du, the famous mathematician from America, Professor Gabriel Wittum, the famous mathematician from German, Professor Hans-Christian Hege, the famous 3D visualization expert from German, Qun Lin, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Haiqing Lin, Director of Beijing Computing Science Research Center, Professor Zhiming Chen, Director of Institute of Computational Mathematics, Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science,Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Xiaodong Hu, Chairman of Operations Research Society of China and more than 50 experts and scholars participate in related activities. The ceremony was hosted by Zuoren Nie, the Vice President of BJUT.
